Night of the Dying E-Readers

In one of those Friday nights that really didn’t surprise me at all; first my iPad decided it was going to crash mysteriously while I was watching a video on the EVO.(I think it was jealous) It just shut off and flashed up the Apple symbol you see on startup. I tried to turn it off and on , it simply hung on the Apple logo for about 2 minutes. I tried that like 4 more times, and it still continued to hang on the Apple logo. Starting to get a bit frantic, I connected it to my MacBook and all was well staring the road to a hard restore and viola it just went from being off to being locked in a very WTF moment.

Then after the panic subsided, my wife and I watched Jennifer’s Body. I really like that film’s dialog, and Diablo Cody has to be one of my favorite writers of all time. No it’s not simply because she wrote Candy Girl either.

After the film my wife went into the bedroom to read her Kindle before bed like she normally does, while I was working on setting this Tumblr up, about 10 mins later she came out pretty upset. Her Kindle’s screen had turned black as you can see. It is almost completely unreadable and given how much time she spends with it(she probably read 100 books on it last year) she is very upset. She contacted Amazon and we will see what happens. Given Amazons track record with me I actually am quite optimistic.

Edit Conclusion: Wife called Amazon this morning and is getting a new Kindle. YAY! They felt really bad that is just so happened to die right after the warranty had run out and are replacing it at no charge. So I may love my iPad but the the Kindle is durned good too! Thanks Amazon!
